How to Create a Boatopia Listing

Getting Started

You can start creating listings on Boatopia once you have completed this list of tasks:

Once these items are completed then you are ready to begin. Head to the Listings tab on the left hand side of your dealer portal. Click either Add New Button.

You will then be taken to the Listing Info page. This page has 2 tabs “General” and “Calendar”.

You will notice a notification bubble on this page. It is regarding black out dates. We will get to black out dates later on in this document.

Add your listing title: This could be a simple description of your boat model and what type of boat it is. For example: Legend 19 ft Fun Pontoon with Extended deck or Legend 18Ft XTR Fishing Boat.

The tagline will be visible on the search page. It’s a short description of your boat and what renters can expect from it or do. Use words that you think customers may use to search. For Example: The ultimate family fishing boat rental that will convert from fishing to water skiing or wakeboarding in seconds. Or Cruise around the lake with 10 friends on this relaxing pontoon.

Photos & Videos

Add photos to your listing. You can only add a maximum of 5 photos but require at least 3 to be completed. Photo angles that should be included are:

You can also add a video highlighting your boat. This video can be running shots or a walkthrough of the boat to demonstrate included features. The maximum video size is 100MB

Features & Activities

For the included features section, you must choose at least one included feature from the list provided. This will allow your listing to pop up if customers search by features included. You can pick as many features as you would like as long as they match the included items on your boat. If you would like to add a feature that is not included in the list, please reach out to a Boatopia App Admin.

In the activities section, you can select from the list provided any Activities that renters can do using your boat. This will allow your listing to pop up if a customer searches by activities. Activities are things like cruising, fishing, tubing, trailering, waterskiing and more. If you would like to add an activity that is not included in the list, please reach out to a Boatopia App Admin.

Additional Information

Next choose your boat type from the dropdown menu, add in the length of your boat in feet, the maximum number of guests per the Canadian Compliance notice on the helm of the boat. Also add in the type of steering used for the boat like wheel-steered, tiller, rutter etc.

Check off if you require the customer to have a PCOC license in order to rent the vessel or not.

You can add any Extras that are appropriate for this boat package that you would like to have populated when the customer is booking the boat from the list of extras you have added.

Pick up & Delivery

Next is to determine the pickup and delivery ability for the vessel. Add in if the boat is available for pickup and if it is then add in the towing weight for the full boat package in lbs so that the customer knows what towing capabilities are required for pickup. If the boat is available for delivery, you can choose yes and add in the delivery locations that you have previously added to the presets that are appropriate for this boat package.

Add the pickup and delivery hours if different from the preset hours, the preset hours will auto populate.

Fees

Next is to add the rental fees for this boat package. The fees you add in are daily rates tax inclusive and not the total cost for multiple days. This allows you to add a lower rate for multiple day rentals in order to give customers a discount for renting more than one day if you desire. If a customer rents for 2 days and not 3, then they will be charged the daily rate. If they rent for 4 days and not 5, then they will be charged the 3 days rate and so forth. This rate is exclusive of the security deposit, extras the customer may add on, the delivery fees and the cleaning fees but they are inclusive of any taxes.

Black Out Dates

You will notice a notification bubble on this page. The Notification bubble is to let you know that once your listing has been submitted for approval and is then approved by the app admin, it will be live for customers to book, therefore you should go into the Calendar tab and block off any days in which you know that your listing will not be available for rent (a holiday, store closure, maintenance day). Once you have added in those dates (if you have any) you can click Got It to remove the notification bubble. You can edit these blackout dates any time.

To add blackout dates, click on the Calendar tab within the Listing Info page. It will bring up a calendar. On this calendar, click the first set of dates you would like to Black out (not have available for rent). Click as many dates as you need too. The blackout dates will turn gray.

Submitting for Approval

All listings must be submitted for App Admin Approval before they are activated. Once you have completed all the information in the Listing information page and you have chosen any blackout dates, click the Submit for approval button. This will notify a Boatopia App administrator to review your listing. Once you have submitted your listing, it will show up on your listings page in your dealer portal with a status as Pending Approval.

Once the Boatopia App Admin has reviewed your listing. They will either approve or decline your listing. If the listing is approved, you will receive an email from Boatopia notifying you and your listing will be active and live for customers to book.

If the listing is declined, the app admin will give you a reason as to why the listing is declined. You can then go back into the listing and edit it and resubmit for approval.

Activating and Deactivating a Listing

You can deactivate and activate your listing anytime by clicking the Deactivate and Activate button on your listing. You can also edit your listing at any time by clicking the Edit button.

An App Admin can also deactivate your listing at any time. If they choose to deactivate then they will send an email letting you know why.
